Oregon - Labor Day Weekend 2009

Carolyn and I took a trip out to Oregon to visit some of my family who I haven't seen in many years. We had a really fun time seeing my Dad, checking out McMenamins, going to the family BBQ and staying at my sister's house. We can't wait to come back in the near future.

Dinner at my Sister's:

Our first night there, Bobbi Lynn put together a fish taco bar which was really good. My Dad and Veronica came out to join us and we got to spend some missed years together. My niece managed to get Carolyn to play house, even get her to go into her play house, bah! Definitely a moment I should have had the camera for, lol.

Bob's Breakfast:

Can't forget Bob's french toast! Soooooo good next time i'm up there i'm heading over for more. Other than the breakfast, it was nice to finally meet my brother-in-law, niece, and nephew.

BBQ at my Dad's:

I think my Dad and I spent most of the day in the garage drinking a "few" cold ones and catching up on all the things that had gone on over the years. I could say this was the highlight of my trip to Oregon and I cant wait to come back. More family came out that night and we had a great get-together. Somehow they even snuck "Happy Birthday" in when dessert came out, which I didn't realize was for me until half way through the song. Later, a few of us headed out to my Dad's shop to go check out Bob's Chevelle. Now that I think about it I should have brought the camera to take pics of the car.

McMenamins:

My Dad, Veronica, Bobbi Lynn, Bob, Lindsay, JD, Carolyn and I all went out to McMenamins on Sunday night for JD's birthday. This was an old Elementary School (the Kennedy School) which was later turned into a Brewery. The beers there were all really good, Carolyn and I shared a sampler. I made my choice by going with the Seasonal brew which was called Copper Moon and she had the Ruby. Another cool place in McMenamins was their cigar room, the Detention Bar. We all piled in the small bar, which might have been some sort of Janitor's room, and puffed on some cigars. Then we made our way to the Boiler Room Bar and had a few more beers and some good laughs. I was really happy that my Dad and Veronica ventured out with us for our last night in town.

On The Road Again:

I'm sure some of you know I hate flying and lucky the drive to Oregon comes with a nice view. Carolyn managed to take a few pics of the view so enjoy!
